Workload Recap
Okay, let's see where you are now and what it'll do for you. You have every task from every class in one place. This means you will not have to juggle different syllabi. You have one central location for all of your tasks and their due dates. No deadline will ever surprise you. You categorize your tasks so that they are easy to identify, group, and manipulate. You don't have to adjust each task individually. You can make adjustments to multiple tasks in seconds.
You have identified all of your reading sources, estimated the time required to read one page in each reading source, created reading tasks, and assigned how many pages you'll need to read. Shovel then calculated how much time you'll need to finish each reading task. Additionally, you estimated the time required to complete every non-reading task, including studying for quizzes and big exams. These estimates are your workload. When you look at a task, it's no longer meaningless. You can start budgeting your time to make sure you can get everything done.
Your estimates also guide you when you should begin working on each task. If a task takes a long time, like working on a big project, you set a much sooner start date than if a task only takes an hour. Bottom line is, you are more organized than ever. If you were to stop here, you'd be better off than any of your classmates. But Shovel is just getting started. It now has all the information it needs to calculate if you have enough time to get your workload done on time, or if you need to adjust your schedule. Let's look at that next.
