Upload Your PDF Syllabus — Shovel Will Create Tasks and Events Automatically

Manually entering tasks is officially a thing of the past. With AI Syllabus Upload, Shovel turns your PDF syllabus into actionable tasks and events automatically.

How to Upload a Syllabus (Step-by-Step)

1. Open Course Details

  • In the left sidebar, hover on the course you want
  • Select “Course Details”
  • Click “Import Syllabus from File”

2. Upload Your PDF

  • A new window will pop up
  • Drag your PDF Syllabus into the drop zone or click the drop zone to select the file

👉 PDF only (for now). If your syllabus is in Word, Excel, Google Docs, etc., just export it as a PDF first.

3. Let Shovel Work

  • The upload windows will close automatically
  • A processing bar appears in the bottom-left corner
  • This can take a few minutes – totally normal

4. Review and Confirm

  • When processing is done, a “Finish” button appears
  • Click “Finish” to review what Shovel created
  • You’ll see all the parsed tasks and events

Looks good? Confirm the import.

Something a little off? Confirm anyway – you can easily edit everything once it’s inside Shovel.

Note: You can’t edit items inside the review overlay yet. Final edits happen after import.

A Few Important Things to Know

  • Shovel uses AI, so double-check your tasks (always smart)
  • If anything doesn’t match your syllabus perfectly, just edit it in Shovel
  • If some tasks are missing, create them manually
  • This feature can save you hours compared to manual setup

Look at the top of your calendar for Study Streak. Click it, and boom—you’ll see your Heat-Map.
