If your professors are using Canvas, Brightspace, or Moodle, you can import tasks directly into Shovel with a few clicks if you're still in the setup process. On the courses tab, select the platform you're connecting with. Read the instructions about where to find your calendar ICS link. Copy and paste it into Shovel and click continue. Shovel will identify the courses you are taking, but please keep in mind that Shovel will only see the courses that your professors assigned tasks to. If your learning platform is empty, Shovel will not see any of your courses here. Select the courses you want to import tasks from and click connect. You can shorten the course names and assign them any color you like.
Once you complete the setup process, all the tasks will be waiting for you in the task list. If you are already inside your Shovel account, you can still easily connect your courses to your learning platform. Hover over a course in the sidebar, click the three dots, select 'sync with,' and select the platform you want to connect the course to. Now just read the same instructions for where to find your calendar URL and paste it into Shovel. The only difference is that because you selected a specific course you want to import tasks into, you can only select a single course from your platform to connect to. So to connect your other courses, repeat the same steps. Once a course is connected, the link is live. This means that if a professor adds a task or changes an existing task inside your learning platform, Shovel will reflect the change automatically.
Now all you have to do is categorize each task, estimate, and set when you plan to start working on it, and we'll cover that in the upcoming videos.
