Connect Brightspace to Shovel

There are two ways to connect Brightspace to Shovel.

1. If you’re starting a new term you can connect to Brightspace during the onboarding steps.

To create a new term/semester, go to settings > term > create a new term.

Then just connect to Brightspace during the onboarding steps.

2. If you’re already inside Shovel and past the onboarding steps (maybe you’re mid semester), and you want to sync with Brightspace or if you want to sync with a new course, follow these steps:

  • Create the course inside Shovel if you haven’t done that already (find the “add new” button next to the course’s folder in the left sidebar)
  • Hover the course in the left sidebar and click the 3 dots
  • Select “sync with” from the dropdown menu
  • Click on “Brightspace”
  • Follow the instructions that open up on the screen

Live connection

This is a live connection to Brightspace. When a task or an event changes in Brightspace, it will change automatically inside Shovel within 24 hours.

I can’t see one or more of my courses

Please keep in mind that you need to have at least one task with a due date or at least one event inside your Brightspace course for Shovel to show the course.

If your professor hasn’t made your tasks available yet, repeat the steps above once he/she has posted your tasks.
