I cannot count the number of fun parties I missed because I didn't get my studying done on time or worse yet, the amount of times I was stressed out when I was chilling with my friends because I knew I should be studying. What I found out later was that I was social at the wrong times because I didn't have a real study plan. It was easy to get pulled away by my friends when it suited them and not when it suited me. But once I started following the real study plan framework, I went to more parties than ever while getting good grades and feeling less stressed as opposed to what many students think.
Managing your study plan doesn't mean stuffing your day with work, but rather reducing your stress levels. Without a plan, Looming deadlines and obligations clutter your mind, making it hard to focus when working and to relax when socializing. This leads to poor results and a potential breakdown. I know how much fun college can be, and I don't advocate sacrificing the fun for better grades. In fact, I want you to shock all of your friends when you strut across the stage at graduation and pick up your diploma because they saw you at every party they went to these past four years.
The goal of this course is to present a time and task management system that will help you achieve this stress-free balance of work and play. I know you can do it because Jim has done it, I've done it, and thousands of students using Shovel have done it too. For example, thanks to Shovel, Jake was able to switch to a more demanding major, get a 3.9 GPA, and land a high-paying job as a data engineer all the while having fun at the same time. Wouldn't that be awesome? Another success story is Charlotte. She didn't get off to a good start, but when she started using Shovel and following the real study plan framework, she was able to go from almost failing to straight A's in upper-level neuroscience while kicking ass on a D1 team. Isn't that amazing?
I promise you this. Once you create a real study plan, you will spend less than 10 minutes a week managing your schedule. You will be in complete control of your academic life and have all the information you need to make the right choices. You will be fully focused when working and fully relaxed when socializing. Your schedule will be flexible, not rigid. You will start your assignments early and never get caught off guard with too little time. If all of that sounds good, I'll see you in the next video.
