The first part of your schedule is something you cannot escape: sleep. You need to sleep to be a functioning human being and not a zombie. The rule of thumb is eight hours a night, but it varies from person to person. The most important thing is being consistent. A consistent sleep schedule regulates your circadian rhythm, which regulates your mood, and an inconsistent sleep schedule can even lead to depression. You cannot escape your biology. You need to try your best to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.

Now, I know that's hard as a student when all the fun happens at night and on the weekends, but try not to deviate more than two hours from your regular schedule. So this is what it'll look like in Shovel: First, you'll set your typical awake time in the onboarding steps, and when you go to the main app, click "Adjust Awake Time" in the sidebar. Here, you can adjust your awake time schedule for individual days. For example, if you want to stay up later on Friday nights, just grab the Friday awake time and drag it out. When you release, click that you want to change this. And the following Fridays, you may want to do the same for Saturday mornings to give yourself a little extra time to sleep in again for your own sanity. Don't deviate more than two hours from your weekday sleep schedule.

And one more thing about setting your awake time inside Shovel: The goal of creating your schedule is to uncover your available study time. And since you cannot study when you're asleep, your awake time sets the boundaries for when Shovel can look for your available study time, which will be very important as we move forward.
